Monica Senff from Bass Wins Major Construction Award
Monica Senff, Bass trainee draftsperson, won a major award at the 2010 NSW National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Awards for Excellence. The awards were held at the Westin Ballroom in Sydney and were attended by more than 700 people from all areas of the construction industry.
Monica is a trainee draftsperson with Bass Wollongong and her award was for achievement in an area considered of primary importance to promoting the success of women in the industry. Monica’s prize was a Tradesperson Scholarship. Monica is currently completing a Diploma of Electrical Engineering and an Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering at Wollongong Tafe, with the view to becoming an Electrical Engineer.
The sponsors of the NAWIC awards perform a significant role in encouraging great achievements from women in the construction industry. Sponsors include: Rider Levett Bucknall, Mast Builder’s Association NSW, TAFE NSW, Brookfield Multiplex, Stockland, Bovis Lend Lease, Workarena, Acoustic Logistic, Baulderstone and Leighton.
Monica gave a very well received speech and, as a result, Bass received good exposure across all the screens and commentary. Throughout her pathway as an electrician, Monica has viewed her work as a career not just a job. She has influenced young women to consider the trades by talking about her pathway in local schools and business publications. Bass exceeds 2,000,000 hours LTI free
Bass recently exceeded 2,000,000 hours - Lost Time Injury (LTI) free. This accomplishment has been a five year journey for Bass.
All have worked very hard to achieve this result and it demonstrates our commitment to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all employees.
Bass Electrical Engineering Accredited EcoSmart Electricians
Bass Electrical Engineering recently received accreditation as EcoSmart Electricians. EcoSmart Electricians is an initiative of the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA). Bass have electricians who are trained in energy efficiency and environmentally friendly electrical products, technology and installations.
The EcoSmart Electricians initiative provides residential, commercial and industrial customers with electricians who have the knowledge and expertise to install state of the art technologies and products that not only reduce the amount of electricity consumed, but provide efficiencies in both dollar terms and the benefits to our environment.

Cameron Holdsworth - 2008 School Based Apprentice of the Year
Congratulations to Cameron Holdsworth of Bass Electrical Engineering (formally TPE). Cameron won the 2008 School Based Apprentice of the Year award at the Southern Regions Annual Award Night, organised by Illawarra Group Training on 27 March 2009.
This event recognises outstanding trainees, apprentices and host companies and their hard work and efforts in 2008.The award covers The Illawarra, Southern Sydney, Southern Highlands and Canberra regions.
Bass Receive Award in Recognition of Excellence in Safety Performance
The Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) presented Bass Wollongong with an Award in recognition of their excellent safety performance.
A formal presentation dinner was held in The Illawarra on 5 December. The Ai Group praised Bass efforts in creating a safe work environment and achieving a Zero Lost Time Injury record for the year.
The awards are an initiative by Ai Group’s Illawarra Industry Council to promote safer workplaces.
Outstanding OH&S Achievement by the Bass Group
Congratulations to the Bass Group on achieving a significant OH&S milestone. During the last 3 years, they have completed 1.75 Million man hours without a lost time injury being recorded. The Bass Group is comprised of Bass Ingleburn, Bass Wollongong, Transelect and TPE.
This achievement is the outcome of consistent effort and commitment by all employees and an acknowledgement that through OH&S education and implementation, projects can be carried out safely. Congratulations to the OH&S teams from Bass, Transelect and TPE.
